The early trial data suggested that they reduce the risk of hospitalisation and death from Covid. However, children are not at a significant risk of either, therefore the vaccines have no substantial benefit for them.[1] [2]
Whilst vaccines can reduce the severity of symptoms for a short period, they actually increase the chances of becoming infected and infecting others in the first 1-2 weeks after each dose.[3][4] The subsequent protection they offer starts to decline after about two months, therefore regular boosters are required indefinitely, until natural immunity is acquired.[5] [6]
Israel is currently recommending a fourth dose within just one year.[7]
